L.S. Ayres Cherub Key Ring

The cherub was first brought to life by the pen of Virginia Holmes, an illustrator who worked on L.S. Ayres and Company's 1946 Christmas catalog. With a limited number of consumer goods available to advertise that postwar year, Holmes filled the unusual number of blank spaces with sketches of cherubs. The artwork caught the attention of L.S. Ayres executives, who commissioned local sculptor David Rubins to create a bronze cherub that would perch atop the store's clock. Today (and every year but one since its 1947 debut), the cherub mysteriously appears to watch over downtown Indianapolis shoppers from Thanksgiving Eve to Christmas Eve.

Key ring comes in a small black box with an insert that holds it in place.
